A press conference took place on Friday morning at “Stadio del Nuoto” in Caserta. Part of the Belgian National swimming team is in town until the 23rd of July in order to prepare the upcoming European Championships which will be held in Berlin in August (18-24). The swimmers will train alongside ADN Swim Project, the most successful Italian club in terms of major international medals won. There was the President of A.G.I.S. Giuseppe Cuscunà and the Counselor for Sports Gabriella D’Ambrosio, who did the honors, pointing that “Caserta is proud to host a foreign national team in our city. This is an incentive for sports tourism promoted for some time now by ADN “. There was, of course, Andrea Di Nino, the person who inspired the collaboration with FFBN, and two members of the team of Flanders: the head coach Ronald Claes and captain Francois Heersbrandt, semifinalist at the Olympic Games in London 2012.
Part of the Belgian team in Caserta there are also two other athletes, Fanny Lecluyse and Jonas Coreelman, and two members of the technical staff, Horatiu Droc and Mathieu Lesage.
Here are the quotes of the coach Ronald Claes of Belgium:
“We came in the spring for a few days in Caserta to observe how ADN works in this city and we were greatly impressed. At that point we did not hesitate a moment to choose Caserta as the venue for our preparation for the European Championships. We believe that Caserta is the ideal place to prepare for such an important event, a place where we can be perfectly at ease, where the services, the structure of the swimming pool, the restaurant, all of which are of the highest level “
Words of satisfaction also by team Captain Francois Heersbrandt:
“I would second the words of the coach about the reception we’ve had here in Caserta. I would only add that it is an honor for me to train alongside established champions like Evgeny Korotyshkin and Andrey Govorov. To me it is a personal and professional stimulus in order to achieve high level results. “
